Step 2: Clear Corrupted Teams Cache

Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.
Paste the following path and press Enter: %userprofile%\appdata\local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams
Select and delete all files and folders inside this folder. (Note: This will not delete your personal chat history or files; it only clears temporary data).

Step 3: Reset App Settings via Windows

Open Windows Settings (Win + I) > Apps > Installed apps.
Search for Microsoft Teams in the list.
Click the three dots next to it and choose Advanced options.

Try these steps in order:

Check whether Teams works in a browser first.
- Open the web version: https://teams.microsoft.com/
- If the desktop app is blocked or broken, this confirms the account can still access Teams while the app issue is being fixed.
Sign out of Teams completely and restart it.
- In Teams, select the profile picture at the top right.
- Select Sign out.
- Close Teams, reopen it, and sign in again.
Clear the Teams cache on the laptop.
- This removes local app data that can cause reinstall or startup failures.
- On Windows:
  1. Right-click the Teams icon in the taskbar and select Quit.
  2. Open File Explorer.
  3. Paste this path: %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams
  4. Delete the contents of that folder.
  5. Restart Teams and sign in again.
- Note: clearing the cache does not remove Teams, but it does remove local cache items such as thumbnails, icons, local message history, display images, and add-ons.
If Teams still will not install or reload, uninstall and reinstall it.
- Reinstalling can fix a corrupted local installation or incomplete update state.
If the install error mentions organization policy, check Windows app-install restrictions.
- The new Teams installation can be blocked by these registry-controlled settings:
  - BlockNonAdminUserInstall
  - AllowAllTrustedApps
  - AllowDevelopmentWithoutDevLicense
- These are found under:

If the device is managed by a school or organization and the error says Due to org policy, you can't install the new Teams, the install is being blocked by device policy and requires an IT admin to change that setting.
