    Dear S N,

As a forum moderator, I am not able to access your account or delve into the backend systems to diagnose and fix this for you. My role here is limited to providing general guidance and steps you can apply from your side. To help me narrow this down, could you clarify what happens when a new chat message arrives?

    • Does a banner appear but with no sound, or does no notification appear at all?
    • Does the phone vibrate even when there is no sound?
    • Does it happen with every chat, or only one conversation?
    • Does it happen when Teams is open, closed, or both?
    • Are you signed in to Teams on a computer at the same time?
    • Is anyone else in your organization seeing the same thing, or is it only affecting your device?
    • Is this a personal Microsoft account or a work or school account?

It would also help to know whether the iPhone is in Silent mode, Focus, or Do Not Disturb when this happens, and which iOS and Teams app versions you are on. The fact that Teams calls still play a sound is useful, as it confirms Teams can produce audio on the device. What we need to narrow down is whether this is about notification delivery, a muted conversation, or just the tone assigned to chat alerts.

If possible, please also confirm the current settings under:

    • iPhone Settings > Notifications > Teams
    • Teams > Profile picture > Notifications

A screenshot of both would help a lot, with any account information hidden.

In the meantime, it is worth checking the answer and link AI posted above to see if that helps. Once you share these details, I will do my best to help you sort this out. Looking forward to your reply.

For iPhone, this usually means chat notification settings are customized even though call notifications are still enabled.

    Try this in Teams first:

    1. Open Teams on the iPhone.
    2. Tap the profile picture at the top left.
    3. Tap Notifications.
    4. Check whether notifications are limited to certain activity types.
    5. To receive chat alerts, set notifications to All activity.

Also check the iPhone notification permission for Teams:

    1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
    2. Go to Notifications > Teams.
    3. Turn on Allow Notifications.

In Teams, general notification sound settings can also affect message alerts:

    1. Go to Settings > Notifications and activity.
    2. Under General, make sure Play sounds with notifications is enabled.
    3. Use Test notification to verify that Teams can play a notification sound.

If Teams does not appear in iPhone notification settings, uninstall and reinstall Teams.

A relevant detail is that calls are handled separately from other notifications, so call sounds can work even when chat notification behavior is different.
