A security solution that detects identity-based threats and suspicious activities in on-premises Active Directory environments
No. An unsolicited caller or pop-up claiming to be Microsoft support is a scam. Microsoft does not make unsolicited phone calls to fix a computer, and Microsoft error or warning messages never include phone numbers.
If remote access was allowed or any information was shared:
- Disconnect the device from the internet.
- Uninstall any application the scammer asked to install.
- Run a full scan with Microsoft Defender Antivirus or another up-to-date antivirus product.
- Change passwords after the malware scan is complete.
- Check for unusual sign-in activity.
- Contact the bank or card issuer if any payment information was given.
- Report the scam at https://www.microsoft.com/reportascam.
If the concern is that a Microsoft account was compromised, use the Microsoft account recovery flow and scan the PC for malware before changing the password.
