I am trying to print a calendar I made with a WORD template using Microsoft 365 Personal. When I click File and Print, it creates a PDF of the document but its blank. If I use the APPLE File and Print, the preview is blank. What am I doing wrong? I believe it has something to do with being a template because I can print other SWORD docs.

Since other Word documents print correctly, test whether the issue is specific to that calendar file:

    1. In Word, create a new blank document with a few words, then print it.
      • If that prints, the calendar document or template is the likely cause.
    2. In the calendar file, go to File > Print and check the preview.
      • In Word, printing and preview are in the same window.
      • If the preview is blank there, Word is not rendering that file correctly for print.
    3. If the calendar is open in Word for the web on Mac, there is a known issue where print preview can be blank and nothing is sent to the printer.
      • Workaround: convert the document to PDF first, then print the PDF.
    4. If this is the desktop Word app on Mac and only this file fails, create another document from a template or create a new file and copy the calendar content into it, then print again.
      • Microsoft’s print troubleshooting guidance says that if a new document prints successfully, the problem is in the existing document.
    5. If even a new test document fails in Word, try printing from another Mac app such as Notes.
      • If Notes prints successfully, the issue points to the Microsoft 365 app installation.
      • If Notes also fails, the issue points to the printer driver or printer configuration.
    6. If Word on Mac still shows a blank print preview, reinstalling Office on Mac is one documented next step after confirming other apps can print.

For a calendar created from a template, the most likely result here is that the specific calendar document/template is damaged or not rendering correctly for print, rather than a general printer problem.

Before going in 6 different directions based on guesswork, go to Word> Preferences - Print to confirm that the box is checked for Drawing Objects. If you used an Avery template they are oddly designed using text boxes. [The setting also can be reached in the Print dialog as well by clicking the Word Options button in the Microsoft Word section of the print settings.]

If that isn;t the solution please provide:

    • The Version number shown in Word> About Microsoft Word as well as type of Liccense
    • The macOS Version as indicated in **>About This Mac**
    • The source of the template – a link to a copy saved on OneDrive would be useful
