I couldnt find the copilot icon in my microsoft excel

Is this a personal Microsoft account or a work/school account?

In https://account.microsoft.com/services What Microsoft 365 or Office subscription/license do you have?

If you are using desktop Excel, what does it show under File > Account > Product Information, including the version/build?

This will help determine whether Copilot should be available on your installation or if this is a license/account issue.

Copilot cannot be manually added as an Excel add-in. It appears automatically when the signed-in account, subscription, and organization settings provide access.

Besides the solutions provided by the Q&A Assist, here are some suggestions you can try:

Open https://www.microsoft365.com/launch/excel and sign in with the account that owns your Microsoft 365 subscription. If Copilot appears there, the license is working and the issue is limited to the desktop installation.

In desktop Excel, select File > Account and confirm the email under User Information is the same account that owns the subscription. Sign out any old, work, school, or personal accounts that may be taking priority, then restart Excel.

On Windows, open the Get Help app, search for Copilot License Troubleshooter, and run it. This checks whether Excel can detect the Copilot entitlement.

If this is a company or school account, ask the Microsoft 365 administrator to confirm Copilot is assigned to your exact user account. After a new assignment, it may take up to 24 hours to appear.

Also note that one-time-purchase versions of Office may not include Copilot. Copilot availability depends on an eligible Microsoft 365 subscription.

If the Copilot icon is missing in Excel, check these items in order:

Look for the new Copilot entry point in the lower-right corner of the workbook. In many Microsoft 365 apps, the button moved from the ribbon to the Copilot Dynamic Action Button.
Make sure Excel is on the latest build.
Refresh the Microsoft 365 license:
- Open any Microsoft 365 app.
- Go to File > Account.
- Select Update License.
- Close and restart all Microsoft 365 apps.
Check the update channel if this is a work or school account:
- Open File > Account.
- In Product Information, see whether it shows Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel.
- Copilot features are not available in apps on that channel. Use Current Channel or Monthly Enterprise Channel instead. If the device is managed by an organization, contact the internal help desk or technical support to change it.
Check privacy settings:
- Open any Microsoft 365 app.
- Go to File > Account.
- Under Account Privacy, select Manage Settings.
- Confirm Experiences that analyze your content is turned on.
- Confirm All connected experiences is turned on.
Verify the account and license meet Copilot requirements. If the button is still missing, confirm the app version, license, network, and privacy settings meet the Microsoft 365 Copilot requirements.

In Excel, Copilot opens from the Copilot icon in the lower-right corner when available.
