Select the real printer in the Print dialog instead of a virtual printer such as Microsoft Print to PDF.
Try this:
- Open the document or item to print.
- Select File > Print.
- In the Printer dropdown, make sure HP Envy Inspire 7900e is selected.
- If it shows Microsoft Print to PDF or another PDF/virtual printer, change it to the HP printer and print again.
If the HP printer does not appear in the list, reinstall or add it in Windows:
- Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select Add a printer or scanner and wait for Windows to find the printer.
- Choose the HP printer and select Add device.
If it is already installed but still behaves incorrectly, remove and reinstall it:
- Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the HP printer and choose Remove device.
- Add it again.
If printing still asks to save output, check that the printer is not using a file output port:
- Open Control Panel.
- Open Devices and Printers.
- Right-click the HP printer and select Printer Properties.
- Open the Ports tab.
- If the port is set to Print to File, change it to the normal printer port instead.
A quick test is to print a test page after reinstalling the printer to confirm Windows is sending jobs to the HP printer and not to PDF.
