Conversations involving multiple participants, allowing collaboration and information sharing in Teams
Hi Roxy,
- Check the three-dot menu (more apps)
- Click the three-dot icon on the left sidebar.
- Look for “Chat” in the list. If it's there, right-click and choose “Pin” to bring it back to the sidebar.
- Change layout settings
- Go to Settings (click your profile picture or the three dots in the top-right corner).
- Navigate to “Chats and Channels”.
- Set “Viewing chats and channels” to “Separate” instead of “Combined/Streamlined”
This should restore the traditional layout with the Chat icon visible.
If the above steps don’t work, try signing out and clearing the Teams cache, you can do so Clear the Teams client cache - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn
However, if the issue persists after trying all steps possible for end user, please reach out to your IT admin and ask them to check the App Setup Policy for your account.
They can go to the Microsoft Teams Admin Center at admin.teams.microsoft.com
- In the left menu, go to Teams apps > Setup policies
- Open the policy assigned to the affected users
- Under Pinned apps, check if Chat is listed
- If it’s not there, click Add apps, search for Chat, and add it
- Click Save
I hope this provides enough clarity and helps you stay inform with your current situation.
