I am trying to record myself giving my power point presentation but it says I have to have the paid version of 365. Is there a way to get around this that is user friendly.

You may not necessarily need Microsoft 365, depending on which version of PowerPoint you have. PowerPoint 2024, for example, includes presentation recording.

To help narrow down the best option:

In PowerPoint, go to File > Account. What version of PowerPoint does it show?
Are you trying to record your webcam/video of yourself along with the slides, or just your voice while presenting?
Are you using Windows 10 or Windows 11?

If your PowerPoint version does not support the recording feature, Windows 11's Snipping Tool can record your screen and is a fairly simple alternative.

Try these options:

Option 1, Windows Game Bar, is probably easiest. It is already part of Windows 11, requires no additional software, and can record the PowerPoint window along with your microphone. Press Windows + Alt + R to start and stop recording. The video is normally saved under Videos > Captures. One important limitation is that Game Bar is designed primarily for recording an app, so it is less flexible than a general-purpose screen recorder.

Option 2, Clipchamp, is better if you want a more polished recording, particularly if you want your webcam image displayed while you present (there is a free trial version). It can record the screen, microphone, and camera together, and you can subsequently edit the recording. More at https://clipchamp.com/en/windows-video-editor/

For what you described, I would start with Game Bar. It is the least complicated approach: open PowerPoint, start the Slide Show, press Windows + Alt + R, and give your presentation.
