Using Microsoft Teams on macOS, including installation, features, and compatibility
Microsoft Teams Essentials is a business subscription, it is managed via Admin Center. If you're seeing a message that you're signed in with a personal account, it usually means the Teams Essentials license is not assigned to a work account (Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD account).
To access Teams Essentials:
- Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center
- Go to Users → Active users.
- Select the user's work account.
- Open Licenses and apps.
- Assign the Microsoft Teams Essentials license.
- Save the changes and have the user sign out and back into Teams using the licensed work account.
You can also view your invoices in Admin Center > Billing > Bills & Payments > Invoices. Additionally, since you mentioned you both use the same email address for both business and personal, this can cause Microsoft services, including Teams, to prompt for account selection or sign you into the wrong account. To avoid this issue, Microsoft recommends changing the sign-in alias of the personal Microsoft account so the email address is only associated with one account type.
