If Page size is grayed out in Windows Fax and Scan, it usually means the setting is being controlled by the scanner/driver and the selected scan source, rather than Windows Fax and Scan itself.
A few things to check:
- In New Scan, check the Source setting. If you're using the flatbed, page-size selection may be unavailable because Windows simply scans the selected area.
- If your scanner has an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), select the feeder as the source. Page-size options such as Letter (8.5 × 11) may then become available.
- Check the scanner manufacturer's software or driver settings and make sure the latest WIA-compatible driver is installed. Windows Fax and Scan depends on the capabilities that the WIA driver exposes.
If you're using the flatbed and Page size remains disabled, you can normally use Preview and adjust the scan area to 8.5 × 11 instead.
If you provide the scanner make/model and whether you're scanning from the flatbed or document feeder, we can determine whether Letter-size selection should be available for that device.
