    Good day SASI

Just to gently clarify before we go any further, this is a user‑to‑user support forum. I don’t have the ability to access or investigate individual accounts because this is a user-to-user support forum.

I recommend first trying the troubleshooting steps suggested in the AI answer. If the issue persists, you can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the Office 365 apps associated with your school account through office.com

To reinstall Office: Go to office.com> App Launcher > More apps > Install apps > Microsoft 365 apps > Apps & devices > Install Office.

    User's image

Once the installation is complete, open the Office applications again and check whether the issue has been resolved.

Additionally, since you are using a school account, it is important to verify that your account has a license that includes the desktop Office apps. For example, Microsoft Education A3 and A5 licenses include the Office desktop applications, while Microsoft Education A1 provides access only to the web versions of Office apps.

To check your subscription: Sign in your school account office.com > App Launcher > More apps > Install apps > Microsoft 365 apps > Subscriptions.

Please verify that your subscription includes Microsoft Education A3 or A5. If it shows Microsoft Education A1, you will only be able to use the web versions of Office applications.

To access the web apps, sign in to office.com with your school account, select the App Launcher and then choose the Office app you would like to use.

Please let me know the outcome if you need further assistance.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Update Office
      • Open any Office app if possible.
      • Go to File > Account.
      • Under Product Information, select Update Options > Update Now.
      • If Update Now is not shown, select Enable Updates first.
    2. Check whether an add-in is causing the apps to close
      • Open Run.
      • Start the app in Safe Mode:
        • Word: winword /safe
        • Excel: excel /safe
        • PowerPoint: powerpnt /safe
      • If the app opens in Safe Mode, go to File > Options > Add-Ins.
      • In Manage, select the app add-ins or COM Add-ins, then select Go.
      • Clear one add-in at a time and restart the app normally.
      • Older add-ins such as ABBYY FineReader and Dragon Naturally Speaking are known to cause problems.
    3. Repair Office
      • Select Start and open Control Panel.
      • Go to Programs > Programs and Features.
      • Select the Office product, then choose Change.
      • Select Quick Repair and then Repair.
    4. Install Windows updates
      • On Windows 11: Start > search Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates > Install.
      • On Windows 10: Start > Settings > Update & security > Windows Update > Check online for updates from Microsoft Update.
    5. If this started the first time Office 2016 was opened after the “Let’s get started” screen
      • Close the Office app and restart it. That issue is temporary.

If the apps still close after these steps, uninstall and reinstall Office using the Microsoft uninstall troubleshooter.
