Word will not let me work with my docs. I use Mac OS.
A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
This is far too complicated. I don't understand how to do all this stuff. I went to Help in Word and checked all the automatic updates. I suspect it's a system error on Microsoft's part. Your support system is supremely unhelpful. I have a PhD and if I can't understand or make this work, what about other people?

What is your macOS version?
What kind of office product do you have? Is it a Microsoft 365 personal subscription or a one-time purchased license like Office Home 2024 for example?

Under Help in MS Word it says Update error
Did you purchase your subscription via Microsoft or Apple?
I'm still unable to use Word. The only option I'm given is to Activate; but I'm already activated—at least as far as I know. Everyting worked fine until yesterday.
Ok. Can you uninstall your apps. And reinstall via Apple App Store. And see if it helps.
I went to Applecare, and somehow they solved the problem for me. After about five hours, at least, fooling with Microsoft's AI circus. Just goes to show how a human being can do things that AI cannot.
I am glad it has been resolved. I suspected that you were on an older version of Office and might be too old for update to work. typically a reinstall would do the trick.
