Hello,

I would like to know whether Intune Remote Help allows copy and pasting between machines?

I saw a previous forum post from 2024 that explained Copy and Paste was a backlogged feature request.

Could someone please advise if this is usable today and how to enable it?

    Hello,

Clipboard sharing (copy/paste) is now supported in Intune Remote Help, but it is controlled by tenant-level policy. By default, clipboard transfer is enabled, and administrators can explicitly disable it in the Intune admin center under Remote Help global settings.

To clarify the situation: when Remote Help first launched, clipboard redirection was not available, which is why you saw older forum posts calling it a backlog item. Microsoft has since added the feature, but it is tightly governed for compliance reasons. If you want to allow copy/paste between the helper’s machine and the end user’s machine, you need to ensure that clipboard sharing is not disabled in your tenant configuration. Go to the Intune admin center, navigate to Tenant administration > Remote Help settings, and check the session configuration. There is a specific option for clipboard sharing that can be set to Enabled or Disabled. If it is disabled, the virtual channel for clipboard transfer will not initialize, and copy/paste will be blocked during sessions.

It’s important to note that this setting is global and applies to all Remote Help sessions in your tenant. There is no per-user override. Also, clipboard sharing is text-only; file transfer is not supported. If your organization is subject to compliance frameworks such as HIPAA or GDPR, you may want to disable clipboard sharing to prevent accidental data leakage. Conversely, if your support staff rely on copying error codes or configuration strings, enabling it can significantly improve troubleshooting efficiency.

In short, yes, copy/paste is usable today in Intune Remote Help, but you must verify that your tenant’s Remote Help global settings have clipboard sharing enabled. If you don’t see the option, make sure your Intune service is updated, as Microsoft has rolled this out in recent service updates.

I hope you've found something useful here. If it helps you get more insight into the issue, it's appreciated to accept the answer. Should you have more questions, feel free to leave a message. Have a nice day!

    HP.
