Welcome Lynn Ann Grzela,
I understand how frustrating it can be when your Canon PIXMA TR160 printer was working initially, but Windows now reports that the printer is not connected and displays the error "The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request."
Before suggesting further troubleshooting, could you please provide a bit more information:
- Is the printer connected through USB, Wi-Fi, or Wi-Fi Direct?
- Does the printer show as Online or Offline under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners?
Besides the earlier recommendations, you may find these additional options helpful:
Option 1: Run the Printer Troubleshooter
- Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
- Run Printer
Option 2: Check the Print Spooler service
- Press Windows key + R
- Type
services.mscand press Enter - Locate Print Spooler
- Restart the service
- Ensure Startup type is set to Automatic
Option 3: Remove any stuck print jobs
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
- Select the Canon printer
- Open print queue
- Cancel all pending jobs
Option 4: Verify the printer port
- Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers
- Right-click the Canon TR160 > Printer Properties
- Open the Ports tab
- Confirm the selected port matches the current USB or network connection
Option 5: Check Device Manager for errors
- Right-click Start > Device Manager
- Expand Printers and Universal Serial Bus controllers
- Look for any warning icons
- If present, uninstall the device and restart Windows
I hope this helps. Please let me know the results of the above tests, and I will do my best to assist further.
