    Try this in order:

    1. Update Office
      • Open any Office app if possible.
      • Go to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
      • If Update Now is not shown, select Enable Updates first.
    2. Run an Office repair from Windows settings
      • On Windows 10: right-click Start > Apps and Features.
      • On Windows 11: right-click Start > Installed apps.
      • Select Microsoft 365 or Office > Modify.
      • If prompted with repair choices:
        • Start with Quick Repair.
        • If that does not fix it, run Online Repair.
      • Follow the on-screen steps, then restart the PC.
    3. If the apps still do not open, check add-ins
      • If an Office app can open at all, disable add-ins one at a time.
      • If the app starts after disabling one, that add-in is the cause.
      • Older versions of ABBYY FineReader and Dragon Naturally Speaking are known to cause problems with Office 2016 apps.
    4. Install Windows updates
      • Open Settings > Windows Update.
      • Select Check for updates and install available updates.
      • This can fix incompatible device driver issues.
    5. If Excel opens only to a blank screen
      • Run an Online Repair of Office.

If the built-in Repair now button does nothing, use the full repair path from Apps and Features/Installed apps instead of the app prompt.

    Hi himani,

Thank you for sharing the issue.

Based on your description, it sounds like the Office application is showing a repair notification, but selecting Repair now does not start the repair process. Could you please send me a screenshot of the full notification message? This will help me verify the exact error and make sure I am following the correct troubleshooting path.

    • In the meantime, you may refer to the troubleshooting steps and articles suggested by the AI forum, as they include useful steps for this scenario. However, since the repair button in the notification is not responding, I recommend running the repair directly from Windows Settings instead.

If the repair option does not open or nothing happens from Windows Settings as well, please let me know and share the details of the notification in the comment below.

I look forward to hearing from you.
