Hi Jones Maddie
Error 0x80070005 means Access Denied. It commonly occurs when Windows Update cannot access required system files or when update components or permissions are damaged.
First, make sure you are signed in with an administrator account, then run the Windows Update troubleshooter:
- Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Next to Windows Update, select Run.
- Restart the computer and check for updates again.
If the error remains, open Command Prompt as administrator and run these commands one at a time:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow
Restart the computer after both commands finish, then try Windows Update and the Microsoft Store again. These commands repair the Windows component store and check for damaged system files.
If it still fails, please provide:
- Your Windows version and OS build, shown under Settings > System > About
- The name or KB number of the update that fails
- Any message shown after running DISM or SFC
Feel free to get back whenever you are available. Thank you for your time
