    Are you trying to upgrade using the Update Assistant, an ISO, an in-place upgrade, or a clean install with installation media?

    Is your Windows 8.1 fully up to date?

    Do you use any VPNs, banking software, or antivirus programs like Avast, BitDefender, or McAfee? You should uninstall them temporarily (Press Windows + R > Type appwiz.cpl > Select the software > Click Uninstall/Change).

    I generally recommend clean installs when moving between Windows versions. This way, you get a completely clean Windows environment with no risk of errors.
