My folders disappeared in my Teams Channel

Thank you for sharing what happened and for confirming that you do not see any folders available to restore from the Recycle Bin.

However, I can provide guidance, recommend next steps, share applicable resources, and direct you to the appropriate support channels so the issue can be investigated further. 

Since the folders are not showing in the Recycle Bin, they may not have been deleted in a way that is visible to your account. They may have been moved, renamed, affected by permission changes, hidden by a SharePoint view or filter, or they may still exist in the underlying SharePoint document library but are not displaying correctly in Teams. 

I recommend the following checks: 

1. Open the affected Teams channel directly. 
2. Go to Shared or Files > Open in SharePoint. 
3. Confirm that you are viewing the correct SharePoint document library for that exact channel. 
4. In SharePoint, switch to All Documents, clear any filters, and search for one of the missing folder or file names. 
5. Also check the Second-stage Recycle Bin. Items that are not visible in the regular Recycle Bin may still be recoverable there, depending on your organization’s retention settings.

If the folders still cannot be found, please reach out to your organization’s IT administrator. They can help check the SharePoint site activity, audit logs, permissions, channel configuration, and whether the files were moved, renamed, or deleted by another user or process.

Microsoft did an update that deleted all of the folders. How do I recover the folders?
