A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data
Dear @Raman Joshi,
I hope you’re having a good day.
That's a great area to focus on. If your goal is sales reporting and analysis, I'd recommend learning Excel in a simple progression:
- Excel Basics Learn tables, filtering, sorting, and formulas such as
SUM,IF,SUMIF, andCOUNTIF. - Pivot Tables This is probably the most important skill for sales reporting. You'll be able to quickly analyze:
- Sales by month
- Sales by product
- Sales by salesperson
- Products with low or no sales
- XLOOKUP and Power Query These are excellent next-step skills for combining data and automating reports.
A practical tip: don't just learn formulas. Try building a simple monthly sales report, then a sales dashboard showing total sales, growth %, top products, and products with declining sales. That's where you'll gain the most useful experience.
For training, Microsoft's Excel learning resources are a great place to start:
Best of luck with your learning journey. Excel is a fantastic skill for anyone working in sales, and you'll quickly see how useful it is for turning raw sales data into meaningful insights.
Warm regards,
