Additional sign-in or account-related issues within Microsoft Teams for business
Try these checks in order:
- Verify that the correct work or school account is being used. In Teams, select Switch to another account and sign in again with the intended organizational account.
- Test Teams on the web in a private browser window. Open Teams in InPrivate/Incognito mode and sign in with the same account. If web sign-in works, the issue is likely with the desktop client session or cached credentials.
- Sign out and re-authenticate in Teams. If Teams shows a Sign in banner or badge on the Teams icon in the notification area, select it and complete sign-in, including any multi-factor authentication prompts.
- Make sure Teams is up to date. In Teams, select the profile picture, then Check for updates.
- If the desktop app still fails, reinstall Teams.
- Uninstall Teams.
- Browse to %appdata%\Microsoft and delete the Teams folder.
- Download and install Teams again. If possible, run the installer as administrator.
- If the problem continues, contact the IT admin. Sign-in and org-access issues often require admin-side checks. The admin should confirm that the organization and account are configured correctly and, if needed, review conditional access settings.
If Teams shows a status code on the sign-in screen, provide that code to the IT admin because it helps diagnose the exact cause.
