Hello,

I recently subscribed to Microsoft Teams Essentials, but I am unable to schedule a new meeting through the Teams calendar.

Whenever I select Calendar, the following error appears:

Error Code: Unknown

Error Message: Unknown

I found the following Microsoft troubleshooting article, but I still need assistance resolving the issue:

Microsoft Teams and Exchange calendar troubleshooting

Could you please help me identify the cause of this error and restore access to meeting scheduling?

Thank you.

Dear @NoraCole-4523,

To ensure I understand your request correctly and to support you as effectively as possible, I need more specific information from you:

  • Are you using a business account or a personal one to log in Teams?
  • Could you please let me know if you have any other subscriptions that you use together with Microsoft Teams Essentials?

If you are currently signed in to Microsoft Teams using a personal account, you will not able to schedule a meeting. With a personal account, the Teams Calendar does not support scheduling meetings in the way you are attempting.

To schedule meetings through the Teams Calendar, please sign in with your organization’s business account (for example, an account in the @<companyname>.onmicrosoft.com domain). Once you are signed in with the correct work account, you should be able to create and schedule meetings normally.

Please also check if you have an Exchange online license via M365 admin center:

Go to Microsoft 365 admin center > Users > Active users > choose your account > Licenses and apps > Apps

Confirm if Exchange Online license is checked.

Teams Essentials is often purchased without Exchange Online mailboxes. If you do not have an Exchange mailbox license, Teams Calendar will not be able to load, which makes the above issue. Since Teams calendar depends on an Exchange mailbox, kindly try to open your mailbox calendar somewhere else (for example Outlook). If you cannot access an Exchange calendar at all, Teams calendar in Teams will not work (it has nothing to connect to).

I hope the information shared helps point you in the right direction. Please try the steps above and let me know if they work. If not, we can continue working together to narrow this down.

The first response may not always resolve the issue right away, but with your help and more details, we can work toward a solution.
