Automation Anywhere Excel sign in popup unattended bot

The recurring Microsoft Excel "Sign In" prompt during unattended Automation Anywhere execution is typically related to Microsoft Office authentication, licensing, or cloud-connected workbook dependencies rather than Automation Anywhere itself. 

Based on similar cases, I recommend reviewing the following areas: 

1/ Office activation/licensing 

• Verify that Microsoft Office is properly activated for the robot/service account running the bot. 
• If Microsoft 365 Apps are installed on a Windows Server or shared environment, confirm that the appropriate activation method (such as Shared Computer Activation) is configured. 

2/ OneDrive / SharePoint integration 

• Check whether the workbook is stored in or originated from OneDrive or SharePoint. 
• Even when opening a local copy, Excel may attempt to authenticate if AutoSave, cloud storage associations, or SharePoint references are present.  

3/ External connections 

• Review the workbook for Power Query connections, linked files, SharePoint data sources, or other external data connections that may require Microsoft 365 authentication when the workbook opens. 

4/ Cached credentials 

• Corrupted or outdated Office credentials can cause repeated sign-in prompts. 
• I recommend reviewing Windows Credential Manager and clearing any stale Microsoft Office, OneDrive, or Microsoft 365 credentials, then testing again. 

5/ Sensitivity labels / Information protection 

• If the workbook is protected by Microsoft Purview Information Protection or Sensitivity Labels, Excel may require user authentication to validate access permissions before opening the document. 

6/ Robot account profile 

• Log on interactively using the same robot/service account and verify that: 
• Excel opens without any prompts. 
• Office activation is valid. 
• No first-run or account setup dialogs appear. 
• The workbook can be opened manually without a sign-in request.
