Hello,

I recently created an API Management instance in the Azure portal for my company and I am not receiving the "Invite user" notification emails just like as it was described in this thread and this thread and it seems that Raskesh was able to assist in getting the issue fixed. If Rakesh or someone else can PM me, I can provide resource details to provide to the product team. I appreciate any help.

@Rakesh Mishra

Thanks,
Roger

    Hi @Roger ,

Adding to TP's answer: the documentation has been updated since then.

    What's new since TP's answer:

    • On paid Azure subscriptions, email is now suspended for the first three days after a new API Management instance is created. It's lifted automatically after that.

    Unchanged from TP's answer:

    • Email is suspended for Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) and MSDN subscriptions until further notice. This also covers built-in emails like Invite user.
    • Email isn't supported in Free Trial subscriptions.
    • Notification template customization isn't available on PAYG or MSDN subscriptions.

Since your subscription is PAYG, the PAYG restriction is what's blocking your emails. New instances on these subscription types stay blocked. Some older instances can be reviewed internally and allowed, but that doesn't apply to new instances. I don't have an ETA for when email will be enabled again for PAYG, so please watch the documentation page for updates.

If you move to a supported paid subscription and the emails still don't arrive after the first three days, please share requested information in Private messages and we'll look into it.

    Hi Roger,

Which type of Azure subscription do you have? APIM email functionality is temporarily blocked for Pay-as-you-go and VIsual Studio/MSDN Azure subscriptions.

    Below is excerpt from documentation:

    Important

    • Email functionality is not supported in Free Trial Azure Subscriptions. This capability is fully blocked and cannot be enabled during the trial period.
    • Email functionality is temporarily suspended for Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) and MSDN Azure Subscriptions. Email capability is temporarily disabled for these subscription types until further notice.
    • Notification template customization is not supported in Pay‑As‑You‑Go (PAYG) or MSDN Azure Subscriptions. These subscription types do not include the ability to modify or configure built‑in notification templates, and this limitation cannot be overridden.
