API Management stopped sending notification emails for new developer subscriptions

Hello,

We have the same issue that has been reported by others. API Management stopped sending notification emails for new developer subscriptions. This was working in June but has stopped working in the last week or two. no changes were made to any of the emails or API Management recently. The originating email configured in Notification templates is the default.

How can we get this resolved?

could you please check Product Approval Settings. If the subscription being created is tied to an APIM Product that has "Require subscription approval" enabled, the "New subscription activated" email will not trigger immediately. According to official Microsoft documentation:

"If the product requires approval, developers receive a subscription request email... After the administrator approves the subscription, the developer receives a subscription activated email." (Reference: Configure Notifications and Email Templates - Azure API Management)

Hi Jared,

Which type of Azure subscription do you have? APIM email functionality is temporarily blocked for Pay-as-you-go and VIsual Studio/MSDN Azure subscriptions.

Below is excerpt from documentation:

Important

Email functionality is not supported in Free Trial Azure Subscriptions. This capability is fully blocked and cannot be enabled during the trial period.

Email functionality is temporarily suspended for Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) and MSDN Azure Subscriptions. Email capability is temporarily disabled for these subscription types until further notice.

Notification template customization is not supported in Pay‑As‑You‑Go (PAYG) or MSDN Azure Subscriptions. These subscription types do not include the ability to modify or configure built‑in notification templates, and this limitation cannot be overridden.

Well that is new. it was working before, we are using a 'Pay-As-You-Go' subscription. Which is what we use for our other services.

All the template editing still works in the dashboard, doesn't show any errors.

Do you know what "type" of subscription we have to use or setup different for this to work again?
