    Hi, Karen

An active subscription does not always mean Excel is activated with the correct account. Saving can also fail because the folder is read-only, has insufficient space, or the workbook is locked or damaged.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

In Excel, open File > Account and confirm it shows Product Activated. Check that the signed-in email address is the same account that owns the Microsoft 365 subscription. If not, sign out, close Excel, reopen it, and sign in with the correct account.

Select File > Save As, choose a local folder such as Documents or Desktop, and save the workbook with a short, new name in .xlsx format. Saving locally helps identify whether OneDrive, a network folder, permissions, or the original filename is causing the problem.

Test a new blank workbook. If that saves, the original workbook may be damaged. Copy its worksheets into a new workbook.

Install Office updates, then restart the device. On Windows, Excel can also be tested in Safe Mode by holding Ctrl while opening it, which helps identify an add-in conflict.

The detailed save troubleshooting steps are available in Troubleshoot why Excel doesn’t save changes.

Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.
