Unable to edit/delete 3 old recurring meetings in Teams calendar

Hello,

I have an issue with 3 old recurring meetings in Microsoft Teams Calendar, and I have not been able to resolve it.

Problem__:__

I am the organizer of all recurring meetings. The meetings were created about a year ago. All my newer recurring meetings work normally. Only these three old meetings are affected.

What happens:

When I click Delete, I get the error: "Unable to cancel meeting. Close and try again__”__

Edit does not work.

If I try to open the meeting in full view, it never loads. I only see the loading going on.

The same problem is in both the Teams Desktop app and Teams on the web.

What I have already tried:

Restarted Teams.

Repaired the Teams app in Windows Settings.

Tried deleting a single occurrence and the entire series.

Tried opening the oldest occurrence in the series.

New meetings can be edited and deleted normally.

Has anyone experienced this issue and found a solution?

Close and try again" error, while newer recurring meetings can be managed normally in both the Teams desktop app and Teams on the web.

Could you try to open and delete the meeting series from Outlook on the Web? If Outlook shows the same behavior, this may indicate a corrupted recurring meeting series.

If you are an Exchange Online/Global administrator, you may want to review the Remove-CalendarEvents cmdlet documentation. Microsoft provides this cmdlet to cancel organized meetings directly from the mailbox when calendar items cannot be managed normally through the client. The cmdlet cancels meetings where the mailbox is the organizer and sends cancellations to attendees.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I had tried Outlook on the web, but I could not find these meetings there. The calendar shown in Outlook on the web is empty, so I cannot open or delete the recurring series from there.

I am not an Exchange Online or Global Administrator, so I cannot use the Remove-CalendarEvents cmdlet.

I wonder if there’s any other method available for a regular Microsoft Teams user to remove these corrupted recurring meetings?

Since the affected meetings are not visible in Outlook on the web and you do not have access to Exchange Online administrative tools such as Remove-CalendarEvents, there are unfortunately very limited options available from the end-user side. As the issue is occurring in Teams and appears to involve older recurring meeting series that cannot be opened, edited, or deleted, this may indicate that the calendar objects are corrupted or require mailbox-level intervention.

At this point, I would recommend reaching out to your organization's IT support team, Exchange Online Administrator, or Global Administrator and sharing the details of your findings. They can:

Verify whether the meeting series still exists in the underlying Exchange Online mailbox.

Review the calendar items using Exchange administrative tools that aren't available to standard users.

Attempt remediation using PowerShell cmdlets such as Remove-CalendarEvents, where applicable.

Determine whether the issue requires escalation to Microsoft Support for deeper backend investigation.

If your IT administrator is unable to remove or repair the affected recurring meetings using Exchange Online administrative tools, they may then consider opening a Microsoft support case to investigate potential calendar item corruption at the service level.

I have a personal Microsoft account, not an organization-managed Microsoft 365 tenant, so I do not have an IT administrator or Exchange Online administrator to contact.

In this case, is there any solution available for personal Microsoft Teams users, or is Microsoft Support the only remaining option?

Regarding this matter, please reach out to Home Support Team so they could investigate further and help you with this issue:

Visit this website: Contact - Microsoft Support

Type Contact in the search box.

Now click Get help, and Select Contact Support or Sign in to contact support below.

Go to the Products and services tab, and choose either Microsoft 365 and Office category.

On the Category tab, choose Manage account subscription.

Go to Confirm.

You can now choose the option of Chat with a support agent on your web browser.

Important Note: The Chat support team only works at certain work times, (Monday to Friday: 9am to 6pm.
