Azure for Students verification completed but Start Free redirects to a continuous sign-in loop

Hello Microsoft Support,

I am a verified student and my GitHub Student Developer Pack is active.

I successfully completed the Microsoft Azure for Students academic verification and received the confirmation email. However, when I click the "Start Free" button for Azure for Students, I am redirected back to the Microsoft sign-in page repeatedly, resulting in a continuous sign-in loop.

Because of this issue, my Azure for Students subscription is never created, and I cannot access Azure AI Services (formerly Cognitive Services), including the Computer Vision API, which I need for my Final Year Project at the Virtual University of Pakistan.

I contacted GitHub Support, and they confirmed that my GitHub Education benefits are active. They advised me to contact Microsoft Support because this appears to be an Azure-side issue.

I have already tried:

  • Signing in with the same Microsoft account that was verified.
  • Using different browsers (if applicable).
  • Clearing browser cache and cookies.
  • Trying Incognito/InPrivate mode.

The issue still persists.

Could you please investigate this issue and help activate or sync my Azure for Students subscription?

I can provide screenshots of:

  • The Azure academic verification confirmation email.
  • The continuous sign-in loop.
  • The GitHub Support response.

Thank you.

    Hello Nathan,

Thank you for your previous assistance.

I have now successfully linked my GitHub account with my Microsoft account.

However, I still do not have an Azure subscription. The Azure portal continues to display "Don't have a subscription?" instead of showing an Azure for Students subscription.

Additionally, the portal now displays the following error:

"Token validation failed. A passthrough token was detected without proper resource provider context. (Code: PassthroughTokenValidationFailed)"

Based on my testing, it appears that the Azure for Students subscription has not been provisioned on my account.

Could you please verify on the backend whether my Azure for Students subscription exists or if it needs to be manually provisioned?

    Thank you.image.png

    Hey there, Muhammad USMAN

In this case, I think it is best to reach out to the Azure billing team through the Azure portal. Please can you sign into your Microsoft account on the help & support blade here: https://portal.azure.com/#blade/Microsoft_Azure_Support/HelpAndSupportBlade

Please can you create a support request using the "Create a support request" button at the top

    User's image

Please briefly describe the issue you are facing, then select billing and the Azure free trial subscription.

The support workflow does provide you articles that try and resolve your problem. Please scroll down to the bottom of the page, where it shows a tab saying "Contact support"

This will provide another option to create a support ticket.

The support team can look into your account and see exactly what has happened.

    Hope this helps,
    Nathan
