Windows Update for Business Reports - Data incorrect (100% of devices shown as missing updates)

Starting this past week, I have observed that Windows Update for Business Reports is showing incorrect data in the pie charts / cards at the top.

For instance, the "Security update status" pie chart shows 0 devices as having the latest update. Under the "Quality updates" tab, "Latest security update" shows "No devices".

However, this data is incorrect. In Intune, Windows Autopatch reports correctly identify the machines as being up-to-date. Moreover, under Windows Update for Business Reports, if I scroll down to "Update deployment status" I can see that 96.5% of devices have installed the 2026-07 update.

So it appears that Windows Update for Business Reports is getting the right data, but is not correctly classifying devices as up-to-date when they have received this month's update.

I found the issue... WUfB Reports is only classifying devices with the latest out-of-band update as being up-to-date (despite the OOB update not being offered to our devices; I manually installed it on a couple devices as a test).

This is presumably on Microsoft's end to correct, but unfortunately we do not have support with this Azure subscription to be able to bring it to their attention.

In the meantime I suppose the immediate plan of action is to wait for next Patch Tuesday for things to go back to normal.

Edit: As of August 14, this issue is resolved.

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum!

Thank you for providing the detailed information and observations.

Based on your clarification and description, given these findings, the issue does not appear to be related to client reporting, update deployment, or a normal data refresh delay. Instead, the behavior suggests a possible discrepancy between the data used by the Update deployment status views and the data used by the Security update status and Latest security update summary widgets.

The Latest security update tile should reflect devices that have successfully installed the most recent security update, while the Quality Updates and Summary views are intended to present compliance information derived from the reporting data. Therefore, a mismatch between these views may indicate a service-side reporting or classification issue

At this point, I recommend you opening a Microsoft support request so that the Windows Update for Business Reports team can review the underlying reporting data and determine whether there is an issue affecting the compliance calculations or dashboard presentation.

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A

Hello @Benjamin Anderson I hope you are doing well.

Based on the symptoms, this looks more like a reporting/classification or data-processing issue in Windows Update for Business Reports rather than an actual update deployment problem.

Since 96.5% of devices are shown as having installed the July 2026 update, but the Security update status and Latest security update views show no devices, I recommend:

    • Verify that the affected devices are reporting successfully to Windows Update for Business Reports.
    • Check whether the issue is limited to the latest July 2026 security update.
    • Allow some time for the reporting data to refresh and reconcile across the different views.
    • Compare the device update status in Intune/Windows Autopatch with the corresponding data in the WUfB Reports workbook.

I would also recommend checking the Windows Update for Business Reports known issues/service health for any ongoing reporting problems affecting the latest update cycle.
