Team Apps on my Mac keeps stating that it's offline even though I am connected to wifi

Since the last two weeks, on launching the Teams App, a message appears stating "You're offline/Make sure you're connected to the internet and try signing in again". This is despite the fact that my Apple Mac is connected to wifi. My Mac uses the Tahoe OS.

I've looked on user forums and followed the usual advice of deleting the app and all associated cache files etc and then downloading again. None of the suggested fixes has worked.

I can access Teams on my Safari browser.

The Mac is a 2025 model.

    Hi,

Thank you for reaching out and for sharing steps you have taken.

Based on your description, Teams loads fine in Safari is the most useful clue here, because it tells me your account, password, and network are all working. To resolve the issue, I recommend trying these advanced solutions:

    1. Remove your saved Teams credentials from Keychain.
    • Fully quit Teams first (right-click the Teams icon in the Dock and choose Quit, or use Force Quit from the Apple menu if it won't close).
    • Open Keychain Access (press Command + Space, type Keychain Access, and press Return).
    • In the left sidebar, select the login keychain, and make sure All Items is selected below it.
    • In the search box at the top right, look up these terms one at a time: teams, microsoft, office, oneauth, and your work email address.
    • For each search, select every matching entry, right-click, and choose Delete. Confirm if prompted.
    • Once all matches are cleared, close Keychain Access and reopen Teams. You'll be asked to sign in again from scratch, which is expected.

This clears the stale sign-in tokens that a normal reinstall leaves behind.

    1. Do a deeper cache cleanup than the standard reinstall
    •  If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon in the dock, and then select Quit or press Command (⌘)-Q.
    • In the Finder, open the /Applications/Utilities folder, and then double-click Terminal.
    • Enter the following commands, and press Return after each command:
      • rm -rf ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.teams
      • rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.teams2
    • Restart Teams.
    1. Temporarily disable any VPN, firewall, or third-party security software

Tools like McAfee, Little Snitch, or a VPN can block the specific ports that Teams needs while still letting your browser through, which may produce this "offline" behavior. Turn them off, test Teams, then re-enable them once confirmed.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow the steps above and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can continue working together to resolve the issue.

If you found the response useful, please consider marking it as accepted, as this may help other community members who are looking for similar guidance.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. I look forward to continuing the conversation.
