With how modern services and applications require more modern environment, I can get why you'd want to move your HP ENVY from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. It's generally still possible, but before getting to the guidance, there are a few things you should pay attention to:
- Both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 already reached end of support. If your HP ENVY supports Windows 11, that would generally be the better long-term option.
- Microsoft no longer supports most of the free upgrade paths from Windows 7/8/8.1. Depending on your situation, you may need to buy a new license to activate Windows 10.
- The upgrade is only possible if your hardware meets Windows 10 minimum requirements:
- Including: 1 GHz processor + 2 GB RAM (for 64-bit Windows) + 20 GB free storage
- Visit HP's website and make sure Windows 10 drivers are available for your model.
