  1. Is Microsoft Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 (ProPlus2024Volume, Click-to-Run, PerpetualVL2024) officially supported on Windows 11 ARM64 devices, including Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite/X Plus processors and other Windows on ARM (WoA) devices?
  2. Are there any known issues affecting Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 build 16.0.17932.20496 on Windows 11 ARM64 that could cause Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) to terminate immediately after launch with Event ID 1000 and exception code 0xC0000409?
  3. Has Microsoft released a newer Office LTSC 2024 build, cumulative update, or hotfix that addresses startup crashes or runtime compatibility issues on ARM64 devices? If so, which build is recommended?
  4. Are there any known compatibility requirements, prerequisites, deployment recommendations, or configuration settings specific to Office LTSC 2024 on Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite/X Plus or other Windows ARM64 devices?
  5. Is deploying the x64 Click-to-Run version of Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 the recommended and supported installation method for Windows 11 ARM64 devices, or is there a native ARM64 Office LTSC package or alternative deployment method that should be used?
  6. Based on the following findings, does Microsoft believe this behavior is indicative of a known product issue rather than a deployment or packaging issue?
    • Installation completes successfully.
    • Office activates successfully.
    • The same Office Deployment Tool (ODT) configuration and package work correctly on Intel x64 devices.
    • The issue reproduces across multiple customer tenants.
    • Office applications crash only on Windows 11 ARM64 devices.
    • Event Viewer records Application Error (Event ID 1000) with exception code 0xC0000409.
  7. Are there any additional diagnostic logs, crash dumps, or troubleshooting steps that Microsoft recommends collecting to help identify the root cause of this ARM64-specific runtime failure?

    Hello,

Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 is supported on Windows 11 ARM64 devices, but only through the x64 Click-to-Run installer running under ARM64EC emulation. There is no native ARM64 LTSC package; native builds exist only for Microsoft 365 Apps. The build you mentioned, 16.0.17932.20496, is known to crash on ARM64 with Event ID 1000 and exception code 0xC0000409. Microsoft has since released newer cumulative updates, with build 17932.20884 (July 2026) being the latest recommended release that resolves these startup failures.

Deployment should always specify x64 in the Office Deployment Tool configuration, and devices should be updated to Windows 11 24H2 or later for improved emulation stability. Since installation and activation succeed, and the same package works fine on Intel x64, this behavior is a confirmed product issue rather than a deployment error. If crashes persist after updating, collect crash dumps from %LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps and Office logs from %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\ for Microsoft support.

I hope you've found something useful here. If it helps you get more insight into the issue, it's appreciated to accept the answer. Should you have more questions, feel free to leave a message. Have a nice day!

    Hoang Le.
