bitlocker key not found in view bitlocker keys

If View BitLocker Keys shows no key for that device, the recovery key is not stored in that account location for that device.

Use this check order:

1. Check the recovery key directly in the Microsoft account
   Go to https://aka.ms/myrecoverykey from another device and sign in with every personal Microsoft account that might have been used on that PC. A device can fail to appear in the device list, but the recovery key can still exist in the recovery key page.
2. Check a work or school account
   If the device was ever signed in with an organization account, go to https://aka.ms/aadrecoverykey, sign in with the work or school account, open Devices, expand the device, and select View BitLocker Keys.
3. Check Company Portal for an Intune-managed work or school device
   If the device is organization-managed, sign in to the Company Portal website, go to Devices, select the locked PC, then choose Get recovery key > Show recovery key.
4. Check other saved locations
   The key might have been:
   • printed when BitLocker was enabled
   • saved to a USB flash drive as a text file
5. If the device belongs to work or school
   Contact the organization's IT support. Admins with the right Microsoft Entra permissions can view recovery keys in Intune or Microsoft Entra admin tools.

Important facts:

• Microsoft Support cannot retrieve, provide, or recreate a lost BitLocker recovery key.
• If no recovery key is found in any saved location, the remaining recovery path is to reset or reinstall Windows, which removes files.
• For reused Windows Autopilot devices with a new owner, the new owner might need an administrator to retrieve the key.
