    Hi Gopal Masade,

Downgrading from Windows Server 2022 Standard to Windows Server 2019 Standard isn’t a direct in‑place downgrade, you’ll need to perform a clean installation of 2019 on the server. OEM licenses are tied to the hardware, so if you already have a valid OEM license for 2019, you can use that to reinstall. However, you can’t simply “convert” a 2022 installation into 2019 without reinstalling.

The recommended approach is to back up all data and configurations, then perform a fresh installation of Windows Server 2019 using the OEM media and key. After installation, you’ll need to re‑apply roles, features, and settings manually. It’s also important to confirm with Lenovo that your server hardware has certified drivers for 2019, since some newer hardware is optimized for 2022.

If you don’t see 2019 available in your OEM portal, you may need to contact Lenovo or your reseller to confirm downgrade rights. Microsoft’s licensing terms generally allow OEM downgrade rights, but the availability of media and keys depends on the OEM.

I hope the response provided some helpful insight. If you find this answer useful, please hit “accept answer” so I know it addressed your concern.

    Jason.
