Members of MS Team are not able to see shared folders within newly created channel

Hello,

An owner of a specific MS Team reached out to me asking why is it that when she creates a new standard channel that members of the MS Team cannot see the shared files of the newly created channel.

This is not happening on any other MS Team in our ORG.

When those with member access to the parent MS Team click on the new channel and then click on shared, they are presented with messages such as:

"This item might not exist or is no longer available" or "Try refreshing the page" etc. I have attached two screenshots.

The only workaround seems to be that as an "Owner", I need open say the "general" channel in Sharepoint mode, click on "documents", find the folder that has the name of the newly created channel and then "manage access", go to groups and add in the missing members group.

Can you explain why this might be happening and how to fix it so we don't have to keep manually doing the above step every time a new channel is created.

    Hi Sundeep,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, members of the Teams channel are unable to view the shared folders. However, this issue only affects a specific Teams channel and does not occur in other Teams channels.

It is possible that during the creation of the Teams channel, the members' permissions were inadvertently omitted or modified. As a result, they are unable to access the shared files and must be granted permissions manually before they can view them.

Under normal circumstances, all channel members should automatically receive the appropriate access permissions and should not need to be added manually.

You may want to test this by creating a new Teams channel and adding users to it to determine whether the issue can be reproduced, or whether it only occurs with the Teams channel mentioned in your post.

I look forward to hearing back from you.
