    Welcome Judy Champlin,

I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer is not printing and that you were advised to check the printer setup, but you are unsure what that means.

Before proceeding, could you please clarify:

    • What is the make and model of the printer?
    • Is the printer connected by USB, Wi‑Fi, or Ethernet?

In addition to the previous suggestions, you could also explore these options:

Option 1: Run the Windows printer troubleshooter

    • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
    • Run Printer

Option 2: Check whether Windows can see the printer

    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
    • Confirm the printer appears in the list

Option 3: Print a Windows test page

    • Open Printers & scanners
    • Select the printer
    • Choose Printer properties
    • Click Print Test Page

Option 4: Restart the Print Spooler service

    • Press Windows + R > type services.msc
    • Locate Print Spooler
    • Select Restart

    Option 5: Reinstall the printer

    • Remove the printer from Printers & scanners
    • Restart the PC
    • Add the printer again

I hope the steps above help you deal with your issue.

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Printer setup” means checking that the printer is configured correctly and your computer can communicate with it.

    • The correct printer is selected and set as default.
    • The printer is online and not paused or offline.
    • The print queue has no stuck jobs.
    • The connection (USB / Wi-Fi / Ethernet) works.
    • The driver is installed correctly.
    • Paper and ink / toner status are OK.

In simple words: make sure the computer and printer are connected and configured properly before printing.
