A SQL Server technology that supports the creation, management, and delivery of both traditional, paper-oriented reports and interactive, web-based reports.
In SSRS, access is restored by adding the affected users or an AD group back to the appropriate SSRS roles for that report or its parent folder.
- Open the SSRS web portal on the report server.
- For site-level access, select Site settings > Security > Add group or user.
- Enter the Windows user or group account.
- Assign a system role such as System User.
- Go back to the Home folder or the specific Quality Control / Quality Control - NA / PreformCerts folder or report.
- Open the item security settings.
- If security is inherited and the required access is missing, edit item security as needed.
- Add the same user or group and assign an item-level role such as Browser so they can view and run reports.
If multiple team members need the same access, add an AD group instead of individual users.
If the error shown is rsAccessDenied, the cause is insufficient permissions. On a new SSRS installation, only local administrators have access until role assignments are created.
If access was working before and only stopped recently, verify whether the role assignment was removed or inheritance changed on the parent folder.
If local administration is involved, open the browser as administrator on the SSRS server, then use Site Settings to add the user to System User or System Administrator, and add Content Manager if broader content access is required.
