I am unable to sign in to my Teams account using my second email

Dear Microsoft Support Team,

I am writing to request urgent assistance with a Microsoft Teams login and syncing issue that recently caused me to miss a highly important meeting.

The problem stems from a conflict between two accounts. I have a secondary, personal email address (a Gmail account) where several critical meetings are scheduled. However, when I attempt to sign into the Teams desktop application using this secondary email, the app fails to switch profiles. It remains stuck on my primary Microsoft account, showing only the calendar and data associated with that first email.

I attempted multiple troubleshooting steps during the meeting time, but none were successful:

I tried logging in via a web browser, but it continually forced me back into my primary account profile.

I forwarded the meeting invitation from my secondary email to my primary email, but clicking the link still failed to grant me access to the meeting.

It appears the application is persistently caching or syncing my first account and blocking access to the second one. Could you please provide guidance on how to completely separate these profiles or resolve this syncing error so I can reliably access meetings sent to my secondary email?

Thank you for your prompt assistance.

    Dear @Ben Bah,

I understand how frustrating it is to miss an important meeting due to account switching issues, and I am here to help you resolve this.

The core issue is caused by the Teams desktop app and your web browser caching your primary account credentials, which blocks the authentication process for your secondary Gmail account.

To resolve this issue, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Clear the Microsoft Teams Cache

This will force the desktop application to completely forget your primary account session and allow you to log in with your secondary email.

    • Close Microsoft Teams entirely (right-click the Teams icon in your taskbar and select Quit).
    • Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams and press Enter.
    • Delete all files and folders inside this directory.
    • Restart Teams and attempt to sign in with your secondary email.

Please refer to this document: Clear the Teams client cache - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn

Note: If you are using the New Teams, go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps, search for Microsoft Teams, click the three dots (...), select Advanced options, and click Reset.

Step 2: Use an InPrivate/Incognito Browser Window

To prevent your browser from automatically forcing you back into your primary profile:

    • Open your browser and launch an InPrivate (Edge) or Incognito (Chrome) window.
    • Go to teams.microsoft.com and sign in using your secondary Gmail address.
    • Alternatively, paste the meeting link directly into this private window.

If you ever encounter this during a live meeting, the fastest workaround is to avoid signing in at all:

    • Copy the meeting link and paste it into an Incognito/InPrivate browser window.
    • When prompted to open the Teams app, click Cancel, then select "Continue on this browser".
    • Turn off your sign-in options, enter your name, and join the meeting directly as a guest.

For more detailed information, you can refer to the official Microsoft documentation on Manage accounts and organizations in Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Support

I think Teams is still using ur first Microsoft sign‑in, and that keeps the Gmail one from taking over. Signing out of Teams and your browser and opening the meeting link in a private window or a Windows user with no Microsoft sign‑in is the clean way to join.
