I am trying to log set up my calendar in my MacBook and when I try to add the Exchange account I got this message: No auth plugin to verify credentials for account of type com.apple.account.Exchange.

What do I do?

OK the new Safari update seems to have fixed things! I can add the outlook account again.

It looks like Apple just released macOS Sequoia 15.7.8 (build 24G824). Has anyone had a chance to try it?

Based on your description, I understand that you're trying to add an Exchange account to Apple Calendar on macOS. Is that correct?

Could you please clarify:

Which macOS version are you using?
Is this a Microsoft 365 work or school account, an Outlook.com account, or an Exchange account provided by another organization?
You tagged the question as Exchange Online. Could you please confirm whether the mailbox is hosted in Exchange Online (Microsoft 365) or on an on-premises/third-party hosted Exchange Server? Some Exchange Server environments may have different authentication requirements and limitations.

In the meantime, you may want to try the following:

Add the account through System Settings:

Close the Calendar app completely.
Open System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).
Click Add Account > Choose from the list > select Microsoft Exchange > when the account sign-in window appears, enter the email address again, verify the correct account type is selected, and then choose Sign In.

If there is a corrupted or outdated credential stored on your Mac, it may prevent the account from being added successfully:

Press Cmd + Space to open Spotlight.
Type Keychain Access and press Enter.
In the search box, search for Exchange or the affected email address.
Delete any related saved credentials.
Restart your Mac and try adding the account again.

Thank you for your response and for the troubleshooting suggestions.

Unfortunately, none of the proposed steps have resolved the issue. I have tried adding the account through System Settings, removing any related credentials from Keychain Access, and restarting my Mac, but the problem persists.

To answer your questions:

The account is a Microsoft 365 work account.

The mailbox is hosted in Exchange Online (Microsoft 365).

My computer is a MacBook Pro 2019.

I am running macOS Sequoia version 15.7.8.

Please let me know if there are any additional troubleshooting steps I can try. I would be happy to provide screenshots or any further information that may help diagnose the issue.

Based on my research, macOS 15.7.8 appears to be a preview or unreleased build, as Apple's official release information currently lists macOS Sequoia 15.7.7 as the latest public version @Roger Lindström .

If this issue started immediately after updating to 15.7.8, the update itself might be a contributing factor.

Another thing to check is whether Safari is set as your default browser. In some cases, Exchange account authentication on macOS relies on Safari and its associated authentication components. Also, make sure Safari is fully updated along with the macOS version you are running.

You may also try restarting the Exchange synchronization service:

Close Outlook, Mail, and Calendar.

Open Activity Monitor.

Search for and force quit the process named exchangesyncd.

Relaunch the Calendar app and wait a few minutes for synchronization to restart.

Since this is a work account, have you contacted your IT administrator to see whether any changes were recently made on the organization's side? For example:

New Conditional Access policies may have been deployed.

Your Microsoft Entra ID administrator may need to approve Apple Internet Accounts as an authorized application. If this permission is not granted at the tenant level, the authentication process may fail unexpectedly or the Exchange authentication plugin may not function correctly.

If none of the above resolves the issue, you may want to consider upgrading to macOS Tahoe. In my testing, I was able to add an Exchange account successfully on that version.

Alternatively, you can use Outlook for Mac or access your mailbox through Outlook on the web. Since these are official Microsoft clients, they do not rely on the same macOS system-level Exchange authentication components and may help you avoid the issue altogether.

To be honest, that was just my assumption @Nicolas B Have you tried the steps I mentioned earlier? I'm not sure about Robert's status either, as I haven't seen any updates from him.

Also facing this issue as of 15.7.8 update. Oddly, only one of my outlook accounts. Tried changing default browsers, Firefox to Safari and back again, no difference.

Well, since this issue may be related to the macOS build, have you tried updating macOS and all associated applications to their latest versions? @Isolate Audio @Nicolas B

Additionally, have you contacted Apple Support to determine whether this might be an operating system–related issue? If not, have you opened a support ticket with Microsoft Support for further investigation?

I'm having this issue too. It started recently. After removing my Exchange account, I can't add it back. I'm having the same problem with Gmail as well.

All applications are up to date. The latest version of macOS Sequoia is installed (15.7.8). Apple Support indicates that this is a beta version that may be unstable. Downgrading is possible.

Thanks for the update @Nicolas B May I ask if you have already tried downgrading from that version?

I understand that downgrading macOS can be a bit complicated, especially if it involves backup, reinstalling macOS, or restoring data. That is why I initially suggested upgrading to macOS Tahoe instead, if that option is available for your device, as it may be a more practical path than going through a downgrade.

I stay on macOS Sequoia.

Everything worked perfectly until the last update... Maybe a downgrade will solve the problem!? Or a future macOS Sequoia fix?

Installed the RC (Version 15.7.8, build 24G822) yesterday, but the issue persists. I’ve submitted a report through Feedback Assistant. We’ll see if it gets addressed.

Since the affected builds seem to be beta releases @MB @Nicolas B , I would generally expect the issue not to occur on officially released macOS versions. However, that's only my assumption based on the information available so far.

Regarding downgrading or upgrading the OS, as I mentioned earlier, I'm currently using macOS Tahoe 26.1.1 (a) and everything is working fine on my side. So, I suppose upgrading to an official Tahoe release may be the easier option. If possible, you may want to consider updating to Tahoe and see whether that helps while waiting for an official upgrade for Sequoia.
