Font changing does not work in Outlook

My font-picker in Outlook has all of a sudden stopped working. I used to be able to change fonts whenever I wanted, but now I select a different font, and the font-picker indicates that the font has changed, but the text itself does not change. It's stuck on whatever the default font is. I've tried restarting and all the other troubleshooting I can think of. I've tried "clear formatting," and it doesn't change anything. I was able to change fonts as recently as a couple weeks ago, but now it's stuck. Any ideas what is causing this and how I can fix it?

I'm working on Microsoft Outlook app on Mac.

    Dear @Connor,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, Outlook for Mac shows that a different font is selected, but the text remains in the default font. The issue started recently and persists after restarting Outlook and clearing formatting.

This may be related to a recent Outlook for Mac issue rather than an individual font setting problem. Similar reports indicate that users can select a different font in the font picker, but the text continues to display in the default font.

In this situation, I recommend using Outlook > Help > Report a Problem to submit feedback directly to the product team. This allows them to review and acknowledge the behavior, which can help prioritize a fix in an upcoming release.
