I live in Remote Desktop to servers. This blocks teams popups and email popups.

I know I can move these via making monitor B the main but that is not a good solution.

I NEED to be ablee to put Outlook and Teams notifcations on a seperate monitor and let it float above me.

Please enable Output and Teams to allow for moving notifcations away from teh main monitor.

I have 4 monitors. Why do I need to move my main monitor to the little on for notifcations in this day and age?

I am getting in troulbe at work due to missed meetings and not seeing Teams messages. If I could but them on their own monitor.... I think life would be much better.

    Hi Munsey

Thank you for sharing your detailed scenario. Your feedback is completely understandable, especially for users who spend most of their day in full-screen Remote Desktop sessions across multiple monitors and depend on Microsoft Teams and Outlook notifications to stay on top of meetings and urgent messages.

At present, Microsoft Teams allows users to choose where notification banners appear on the screen through Settings > Notifications and activity > Display > Position on the screen (for example, top-right, bottom-right, top-left, or bottom-left). However, this setting only changes the notification position within the active display area and does not provide an option to select a specific monitor for notifications: Manage notifications in Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Support

Similarly, Outlook notifications are controlled through Windows notification settings and are affected by factors such as Focus/Do Not Disturb mode, notification permissions, Teams presence status, and other system-level notification behaviors. While Outlook supports desktop alerts, there is currently no supported option to assign those notifications to a dedicated monitor or have them remain visible above Remote Desktop sessions: Outlook notifications aren't working | Microsoft Support

At this time, there is no native feature in either Microsoft Teams or Outlook today that allows users to freely move notification pop-ups to a separate monitor and keep them floating independently of their primary display or Remote Desktop environment.

Given how common multi-monitor setups are, especially for administrators, support engineers, and users who work extensively in Remote Desktop sessions, your suggestion would provide significant value. The ability to dedicate a monitor to Teams and Outlook notifications could help prevent missed meetings, chats, and important alerts without requiring users to change their primary monitor configuration.

As potential workarounds, you may consider:

    • In Microsoft Teams, navigate to Settings > Notifications and activity > Display, choose the most visible banner position, and use Test notification to verify its placement.

    • Make sure meeting reminders, chat notifications, and notification sounds are enabled in Teams.
    • Verify that Outlook notifications are enabled in Windows and that Do Not Disturb/Focus or Energy Saver settings are not suppressing alerts.
    • If possible, avoid extending a Remote Desktop session across all monitors so that one display remains available for local Teams and Outlook notifications.
