Hi Team,

We have setup Microsoft Teams Calling Plan pay-as-you-go for one of the teams and this is successful. However we keep getting " Communications Credits alert: Out of funds " email every time we receive a call on the Number. Could you please let me know more details on the same- why do we receive this email from Microsoft Azure azure-noreply@microsoft.com, can we disable the email alert which says" Communications Credits alert: Out of funds " .

Thank you

    Hi Guruprasad

Good day. Thank you for reaching out, and I appreciate you sharing the details of your situation.

Before we go any further, I’d like to gently clarify that this is a user to user support forum. I’m not part of the Microsoft billing team, so I don’t have the ability to directly cancel subscriptions or intervene on billing matters. That said, I truly hope I can help review your situation, offer some guidance, and support you in finding the right next steps as best as possible.

Based on the information provided, the “Communications Credits alert: Out of funds” email is generated because the tenant still has Communication Credits configured, but the available balance is currently 0.

Communication Credits are used for several Microsoft Teams Phone billing scenarios, including Pay-As-You-Go Calling Plan usage, Calling Plan overages, Audio Conferencing dial-out, and toll-free number usage. If the number receiving calls is a toll-free number, inbound calls may also require a positive Communication Credits balance, which can trigger the alert when there are no available funds.

To help address this, I recommend the following checks:

(If you're not an admin, please contact your organization's IT administrator for assistance.)

1/ Check the Communication Credits subscription

    • Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center
    • Navigate to Billing > Your products.
    • Look for Communication Credits.
    • Confirm whether the subscription is still active and whether the balance is out of funds.

2/ Confirm whether the number is toll-free or a regular phone number

    • If the number is a toll-free number, calls to that number may be charged per minute and require Communication Credits.
    • If it is a regular geographic/user number, inbound calls are typically included depending on the Calling Plan configuration.

3/ Review whether Communication Credits are still required

    • Go to Teams admin center > Voice > Resource accounts
    • Check if any users, resource accounts, Auto Attendants, Call Queues, or Audio Conferencing services are still using Communication Credits.
    • If Communication Credits are still required, you may need to add funds or configure auto-recharge to prevent future alerts.
    • Also, you may go to Billing > Billing notifications to review who receives billing-related notifications.
    • (Please note that there may not be a separate option to disable only the “Out of funds” alert while the Communication Credits subscription remains active and out of funds.)

If you need additional assistance related to billing configuration, Communication Credits balance, payment method, or billing notification settings, I recommend reaching out to the Microsoft Billing Support team. They are the team that can best assist with billing-related issues, including subscription charges, payment setup, Communication Credits, and billing alerts.

To proceed, please follow the steps below:

    • Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center with your Microsoft administrator account.
    • On right bottom corner click on "Help & support"
    •  User's image
    • Describe your issue briefly then choose the "Contact support".
    • User's image
    •  You may be offered options for chat or call depending on your region and support availability.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to share them in the comment below. I'm very happy to help.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
