Can we enable external access or guest access for a specific Teams environment for cross-organisation professional networking?

I recently delivered training to different team leaders of different services. i want to create a platform for them to stay connected and reflect on their practice

    Hi @KANWAR, Raksha

It is possible to create a cross-organisation networking and collaboration space using Teams. The most suitable approach for your scenario is to use Guest Access.

With Guest Access enabled, you can invite participants from different organisations into a dedicated Team, where they can:

    • Join discussions and reflect on practice
    • Share resources and insights
    • Participate in meetings and follow-up sessions
    • Collaborate within structured channels

This effectively creates a shared community of practice, which aligns well with your aim of keeping team leaders connected beyond the training.

There is also an option called External Access, but this only allows chat and meetings between organisations and does not provide a shared workspace (channels, files, etc.), so it wouldn’t meet your requirements for ongoing collaboration.

To set this up, your IT administrator would need to ensure that Guest Access is enabled in the Teams Admin Centre. Once enabled, you can create a Team and invite external participants directly using their email addresses.
