A SQL Server technology that supports the creation, management, and delivery of both traditional, paper-oriented reports and interactive, web-based reports.
Hi @TCPL_ADMIN2
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum.
A separate product key is not required to proceed with the SSRS 2022 installation. SQL Server 2022 Reporting Services can be installed using one of the built-in free editions, or with an existing SQL Server 2022 license key.
Steps to resolve:
- On the "Choose an edition to install" screen, select the "Choose a free edition" option.
- From the dropdown, choose the edition that matches your use case:
- Evaluation – Full feature set, expires in 180 days (best for testing/POC).
- Developer – Full feature set, free, licensed for development and testing only (not production).
- Express – Free, supported for production use with limited features.
- Click Next and complete the installation.
For licensed/production use:
- SSRS 2022 does not have a standalone product key — it is licensed under the SQL Server 2022 license.
- If a licensed edition (Standard/Enterprise) is required, obtain the product key from the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) / Microsoft 365 Admin Center → Volume Licensing, or through your organization's procurement / Licensing Solution Provider (LSP).
- You may also install now using Evaluation and later upgrade the edition by re-running setup and entering the key no reinstall required.
