Windows updates, including security updates, can be uninstalled only in the supported ways. If the normal uninstall fails or the update is blocked from removal, there is no supported method to “force” it off beyond what Windows provides.
Use the supported options in this order:
- Try uninstalling from Settings
- Open Start → Settings → Windows Update.
- Select Update history → Uninstall updates.
- Select the problematic KB (for example, KB5094126) and choose Uninstall.
- Note that some updates cannot be uninstalled at all.
- If Windows will not start or the uninstall keeps failing, use Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE)
- Boot into Windows RE.
- Select Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Uninstall Updates.
- Choose Uninstall latest quality update (for monthly security/quality updates) or Uninstall latest feature update, depending on what was installed.
- Follow the prompts to complete the rollback.
- If the update still cannot be removed
- The update is likely marked as non‑removable or is required for system security and stability. In that case, the supported options are to keep the update installed and work with the application vendor for a compatibility fix, or repair/reinstall Windows to a working build that supports the gait‑analysis software.
Be aware that uninstalling security updates can expose the PCs to security risks. Review the guidance in the Microsoft article on understanding the risks before removing security updates.
