    Hi Varkha Kundal ,

Thank you for reaching out on Microsoft Q&A forum.

To better understand the scenario, could you please confirm the following:

    • Is sdx.microsoft.com a domain/subdomain managed within your DNS zone, or is it part of the Microsoft-owned microsoft.com namespace?

This will help us determine the next steps.

    • If the record is part of a DNS zone owned and managed by your organisation, you should be able to view and modify the CNAME record within your DNS provider.
    • However, if the record belongs to the Microsoft-owned microsoft.com zone, it will:
      • Not appear in your DNS record sets
        • Not be editable from your side

    As per Microsoft Learn:

The CNAME record for sdx.microsoft.com is in a DNS zone owned and managed by Microsoft. A CNAME in the microsoft.com zone can only be created or modified in the authoritative DNS zone for microsoft.com, which is under Microsoft’s control.

Because of this, it cannot be changed from:

    • Azure DNS zones in a customer subscription, or
    • Any external registrar or DNS provider used for your own domains.

To point a service to a different destination, use one of these approaches instead:

    1. If the requirement is to change where your custom hostname resolves, create or update a CNAME in the DNS zone you control (for example, in Azure DNS or your registrar) so that your hostname (e.g., app.contoso.com) points to the new target, rather than trying to modify sdx.microsoft.com.
    2. If a Microsoft service explicitly requires sdx.microsoft.com and the behavior is incorrect, this is a platform-side configuration and must be handled by Microsoft support for that product. Open a support ticket for the specific Azure or Microsoft 365 service referencing the dependency on sdx.microsoft.com.

There is no supported mechanism to directly edit or override the CNAME for sdx.microsoft.com itself from a customer-managed Azure DNS zone.
