How do I get out of a pop-up window In MS Teams 'Shifts'?

While I am accessing my Teams account (desktop and online), I am practicing with MS Teams Shifts and I am experiencing an issue with a pop-up window.

User's image

I cannot get out of the pop-up window (in both desktop and online/web versions), even when I click the "Got it" and "Go to settings" buttons. The screen remains frozen unless I leave Shifts for another sections of Teams.

I tried clearing the cache in Teams (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/microsoftteams/teams-administration/clear-teams-cache (however, the 'Quit' button or selection mentioned in these instructions doesn't match what appears, it says 'Close the window')), but nothing has changed.

I also tried accessing my account (desktop and web) on another computer, but the same issue is occurring.

How do I correct this issue? Please advise.

Dear @Kremer, Michael,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, you are experiencing a Microsoft Teams Shifts popup (“Manage time off with ease”) that cannot be closed even after clicking “Got it” or “Go to settings”.

The popup you are seeing is a Shifts onboarding/feature introduction message related to the time-off management feature, not an actual error. This issue occurs when the popup fails to respond to user actions, which is typically caused by a UI or session-related problem rather than a device issue, especially since it happens across desktop, web, and different computers.

You may try the following steps to resolve the issue:

Reset the Teams application

Go to Settings > Apps > Microsoft Teams > Advanced options > Reset, then restart Teams. This helps clear corrupted app state that may prevent the popup from closing.

Test in an InPrivate/Incognito browser

If the issue does not occur there, it indicates a cache/session problem in your current environment.

Verify Shifts configuration Check whether:

  • The Shifts schedule is properly set up and published
  • Time-off settings are configured
  • Your role (Owner/Member) has appropriate permissions

Try a temporary workaround

Refresh the app (Ctrl + R) or navigate away from Shifts and return.

If the issue persists after these steps, it is likely related to a backend issue in Microsoft Teams Shifts. In this case, you should contact your Microsoft 365 administrator to raise a support ticket with Microsoft for further investigation.

The Microsoft Online Support Team has higher permission than us moderators to remotely assist you and collect background logs for the root cause. This is a more efficient and direct way in recovering this scenario for you.
