Using Microsoft Teams on macOS, including installation, features, and compatibility
Use two paths in parallel: check for self-service Teams app subscriptions, and then verify who is actually billing the subscription.
- Check for a Teams app subscription that can be cancelled in Teams
- Open Microsoft Teams.
- Select Apps > Manage your apps.
- Go to the Subscriptions tab.
- If the subscription appears there, select More options … > View subscription.
- Select Cancel subscription.
- If further billing settings are needed (for example, recurring billing), select Manage more in Microsoft 365 admin center from that same view.
- Check if the subscription is a self-service purchase and take it over as an admin
If the subscription was bought as a self-service purchase (for example, by a user directly in Teams or online), an admin can take control and then cancel it:
- In the Microsoft 365 admin center, open the subscription details page for that self-service purchase (if visible).
- In Subscriptions and settings, select Take control of this subscription.
- In the details pane, select Cancel subscription.
- Choose a cancellation reason and confirm Cancel subscription in all prompts.
- The Subscription status should then show as Deleted.
- If the subscription still does not appear anywhere
If there is still no entry in either the Microsoft 365 admin center or the Teams Manage your apps > Subscriptions list, the most common causes are:
- The subscription was purchased through a third party (for example, a retailer, Apple App Store, or Google Play). In that case, cancellation and refunds must be handled directly with that provider.
- The subscription is tied to a different Microsoft account than the one being used in the admin center or Teams.
- Verify who the subscription was bought from (Microsoft vs. third party) and contact the retailer or app store if it is not a direct Microsoft purchase.
- Confirm that the same Microsoft account that appears on the invoice is being used to sign in when checking subscriptions.
- If there is still no cancel/recurring billing option and the subscription is billed directly by Microsoft, use the guided support entry point from that article to escalate to billing support.
Stopping the direct debit is not recommended as a first step because overdue balances can block cancellation until they are resolved. Use the account and billing checks above and, if necessary, escalate via Microsoft’s subscription/billing support channels referenced in the “Unable to cancel your Microsoft subscription” guidance.
