A user in my tenant (I'm the admin) is unable to create a teams meeting. The following message appears:image

The same error occures in outlook, outlook online, outlook online in-private browers, and on multiple laptops ... So it's 99% sure a server-side issue.

Creating a meeting without teams works, Updating this to a teams meeting results in the same error.

License of the user is "Microsoft 365 Business Premium" with all apps enabled.

Please advice.

Hi @Gunther Storme

Regarding your issue, this behavior where Teams meetings can't be created or saved in Outlook has been recognized as a service-side issue affecting some users.

Currently, the issue is still under investigation, and the service team is actively working to identify the root cause and apply a fix. Not all users are impacted, and other Outlook or calendar features (such as creating regular events without Teams) may continue to work normally.

At this time, there isn't a client-side setting or local troubleshooting step that can fully resolve this. The best approach is to:

  • Monitor updates in the Microsoft 365 Service Health section of the admin center.
  • As a temporary workaround, create regular calendar events and manually share a Teams meeting link if urgently needed

Also, if you are the IT administrator I'd recommend reporting the issue through the Microsoft 365 admin center and note that it affects your user experience as this helps ensure the scope of impact is clearly captured.

In parallel, please also try contacting Microsoft Support directly. They can review your tenant and account configuration, collect diagnostics or logs if need, and escalate internally for deeper investigation. Taking both approaches together is often the most effective way to move situations like this forward.

Here’s what your Microsoft 365 Global Admin (IT Admin) should do next:

  • Submit a Service Request: The Global Admin should create a service request with Microsoft support to get advanced technical assistance and diagnostics. For detailed instructions on how to get support, please refer to Get support - Microsoft 365 admin.
  • Find Your Microsoft 365 Admin: If you’re unsure who the Global Admin is within your organization, you can find guidance on locating them here: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support.
  • If your subscription is managed through a Microsoft partner or reseller, they can also assist with opening a support request and liaising with Microsoft on your behalf.

As a forum moderator, my role is limited to providing general guidance and basic troubleshooting and I don’t have access to backend systems or the ability to influence or expedite the engineering team’s investigation.

I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding and feedback.

    Hi @Gunther Storme,

Thank you for your patience on this issue.

After reviewing the latest service information, this behavior where users are unable to create or save calendar events with Teams meetings is confirmed to have been caused by a service-side issue in Exchange Online, which impacted a subset of users when using Outlook on the web or the new Outlook client.

The issue was related to a recent service update that introduced a regression affecting certain calendar event scenarios. This resulted in failures when creating or saving meetings that included Teams links.

A fix has now been fully deployed and validated, and the service has returned to normal. No further action is required from your side.

If your user is still experiencing the same issue, it would be best to submit a support request through the Microsoft 365 admin center so the support team can review your tenant and confirm whether this is related or a separate issue.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
