Microsoft 365 A3 for students use benefit does not have Teams Events App

For organizing webinars, the key requirement is the underlying Teams/Office/Microsoft 365 Education license, not specifically the “Teams Events app” UI.

From the documented prerequisites for Teams live events (the legacy webinar/live event capability):

• To organize a Teams live event, a user must have Microsoft or Office 365 Education A3 or A5.
• To produce or present, a user can have Education A1, A3, or A5.

The “Microsoft 365 A3 for students use benefit” is a Student Use Benefit tied to A3, but it is not the same as a full A3 faculty license. The Education service description and A3 feature tables show that certain capabilities (for example, some Viva Learning features and other advanced workloads) are faculty-only even when the base SKU name includes A3.

In practice this means:

• Faculty with Microsoft 365 A3 for faculty meet the documented prerequisite to organize webinars/live events.
• Students with Microsoft 365 A3 for students use benefit may not have the same organizer rights exposed in Teams, even though they can participate in meetings and use classroom tools.

If students in the tenant cannot see the webinar/Events experience while A3 faculty can, this is consistent with the documented split between full A3 faculty licensing and Student Use Benefit. To enable students to organize webinars, assign them a qualifying organizer license (for example, an Education A3/A5 license that is not limited to Student Use Benefit) in line with the live events prerequisites.
