    Hi @, Josef ,

Thanks for reaching out. I’m happy to help you look into this. I can understand how unexpected errors like this can interrupt your workflow.

Just to clarify first, the code you provided is actually a correlation ID, not a direct error code. It’s mainly used internally by Microsoft for tracking, so it doesn’t point to a specific actionable error on its own.

Based on your scenario and what I’ve seen in similar cases, this is very likely related to a sync or path issue between Microsoft Teams and the underlying SharePoint library. As you may know, files and folders in a Teams channel are actually stored in SharePoint behind the scenes, and Teams simply reflects that structure. If there’s any inconsistency (for example, if a folder was renamed, not fully synced, or has mismatched metadata) the move action within Teams can sometimes fail.  To start narrowing things down, I’d suggest checking your permissions on both the source and destination folders. Please make sure you have at least Edit access (or higher). If your access is limited to Read or restricted Contribute permissions, the move operation may not complete successfully.

It would also be helpful to try performing the same action using the Teams web version instead of the desktop client. In some cases, this can bypass local syncing or caching issues and give a clearer result.

If the Teams interface continues to show the error, I’d recommend trying the move directly in SharePoint, which is the actual storage behind the channel.

    • You can open your channel, go to the Files (or Shared) tab, and select “Open in SharePoint”. From there, locate and tick the folder you’d like to move.

    • Then, click on “Move to” from the command bar, choose the correct destination folder within the same library (same channel), and select “Move here.”

Please kindly give this approach a try and let me know how it goes. If you have any updates or if the error still persists, feel free to leave a comment under this post. It’s the best way for me to stay notified and follow up with you promptly.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding!

The error code itself is not documented in the context, but moving folders within the same Teams channel is supported and should work if done through the Files experience that is backed by SharePoint.

Use this supported path to move the folder inside the same channel:

    1. In Teams (desktop or web), select OneDrive > My files.
    2. Under Quick access or More places..., locate the team and channel where the folder currently exists.
    3. Navigate to the channel’s files (you can also go via Teams > the channel > Shared tab, which is the Files tab for that channel).
    4. Hover over the folder to move and select More options (three dots) > Move to.
    5. In the location picker, browse to the target folder within the same channel.
    6. Select the destination folder, then choose Move here.

If the folder was renamed or is out of sync with the underlying SharePoint folder, revert it in SharePoint and then try again:

    1. In Teams, go to Teams.
    2. Select the channel, then go to Shared.
    3. Select More commands > Open in SharePoint.
    4. In SharePoint, open the Details pane and check Activity for any rename or sync issues.
    5. If the channel’s folder was renamed, rename it back to the original name.
    6. Return to Teams, go to the channel’s Shared tab, and select Sync to resync the folder.
    7. Retry the Move to operation as above.

If the move still fails only for this specific folder, use Copy to instead and then delete the original folder after confirming contents are correctly copied:

    1. Follow the same steps as for Move to, but choose Copy to.
    2. Select the destination folder and choose Copy here.
    3. After verifying the copied contents, delete the original folder from the channel.

Note: It is not necessary to duplicate folders just to share content in multiple locations; sharing links to files or folders is recommended instead.
